From celebrating Cinco de Mayo with friends to catching the newest Marvel movie at a nearby theater, here’s what we’re up to this weekend.

Cinco de Mayo

With a slew of Cinco de Mayo celebrations happening across the city this weekend, you should have no trouble planning your perfect fiesta. You can revel in an abundance of Mexican cuisine, complete with Cinco de Mayo food and drink specials at a number of Chicago bars and eateries. Or go beyond guzzling margaritas and scarfing down tacos with the Cinco de Mayo Parade this Sunday, May 7, which steps off at noon and runs on Cermak Road from Damen Avenue to Marshall Boulevard. Commemorate Mexico’s victory over the French Army in the Battle of Puebla with a stroll through Little Village for the Cinco de Mayo Festival happening Friday through Sunday, May 5-7, in Douglas Park.

Creative comedy

Looking for a laugh this weekend? Spooky Dookie’s newest show, “The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire: An IMAX Experience” is premiering this Friday in the Chris Farley Cabaret located on the second floor of the iO Theater (1501 N. Kingsbury St. 312-929-2401). The show is a creative blend of sketch and narrative comedy that takes place entirely inside the Chicago Field Museum. Spooky Dookie, a two-woman team consisting of Maureen Monahan and Claire McFadden, promises “you’ll be blasted into the past, then tugged into the future, and then returned to your body in the present.” The show will run every Friday at 10:30 p.m. through June 9. $10. Marvel’s marvels

Head to your local cinema and gear up for a movie experience that’s out of this world. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” hits theaters this weekend. Get a second bite of this action-packed comedy about a misfit superhero team traveling through the cosmos to help Peter “Star-Lord” Quill (Chris Pratt) learn more about his parentage, while also trying to escape capture by an alien race known as the Sovereign.

Beer brewhaha

Sip your way around Soldier Field (1410 S. Museum Campus Drive 312-235-7000) this Saturday, May 6 at the Chicago Beer Classic.
